The Best Sauvignon Blancs In The World, According To Wine-Searcher

Often seen as straightforward and satisfying reminders of summer splendor, Sauvignon Blancs are among the world’s top wine varieties. In fact, its such a popular varietal that New Zealand is running out of it.

Over the past 30 years, New Zealand has made a name for itself in the wine world with acidic Sauvignon Blancs for good prices. Surprisingly though, the country is not represented on this year’s list of the world’s best Sauvigon Blancs. In fact, not a single bottle from the Land of the Long White Cloud appears in Wine-Searcher’s 25 top-rated Sauvignon Blancs.

The lack of New Zealand wines on the list is good news for France, as famed bottlings from the varietal’s spiritual home appear on the 2021 list of the world’s best Sauvignon Blancs. Both Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé feature on this year’s list. However, it’s another European nation, located on the other side of the Alps, that has provided some healthy competition on this year’s list.

In fact, Austria topped France with five of the top 10 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc. France appeared four times on this year’s list, and a bottle from California’s Napa Valley picked up the remaining spot.
