Teeling Adds Second 18 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey To Renaissance Series

Teeling has added a new 18 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey to its Renaissance series, according to The Spirits Business. The Dublin-based distillery launched the range last year, which is designed to celebrate the “true ‘renaissance of Dublin’ as the epicentre for world-class city-based whiskey distillation.”

The second 18 Year Old Renaissance Whiskey was matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, before being finished in ex-Australian Shiraz wine casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV and only 9,000 bottles will be released.

Jack Teeling, founder and managing director of Teeling Whiskey, said: “These releases are a celebratory bottling series to mark the true ‘renaissance of Dublin’ as the epicentre for world-class city-based whiskey distillation.

“As the leader of the new wave of Dublin whiskey distillers, we look forward to contributing to and helping the continued renaissance of Teeling, Dublin and Irish whiskey.

“With our Dublin-distilled Irish whiskey now being exported around the world, we are witnessing a new dawn, which is perfectly encapsulated in our Renaissance bottlings.”

The Teeling 18 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whisey will be available for €140 (US$165) per 700ml bottle and will come in a gift box.

Last month, the Teeling 28 Year Old Single Malt Whiskey was named the top Irish Whiskey at the 2020 International Wine & Spirits Competition. The almost three decade old spirit from the Dublin distillery was awarded an overall score of 96 out of 100 and awarded a gold medal. “Tropical fruit with toasted iced bun, cinnamon and smoky peat aromas on the nose. The complex palate hints winegum and toasted almonds with a savoury undertone of vanilla and oak. Good balance with a guava hint. A long, smooth finish. Superb,” wrote the judges about the Whiskey.

In July, the distillery officially released the Teeling 37 Year Old Irish Single Malt Whiskey. The limited edition expression is the oldest Whiskey in the distillery’s Vintage Reserve Collection. Distilled back in 1983, the new release matured solely in an ex-Bourbon cask for 37 years. Hand-bottled at 41.3% ABV, it comes in at a price of €7,000 ($8,290 USD) per 700ml bottle.

Only 175 bottles of the single malt have been created, and it follows previous releases of 30 Year Old and 33 Year Old expressions as part of the Vintage Reserve Collection.
