Sonoma Hotel Combines Vineyards And Bikes To Create Ultimate Wine Country Experience

If leisurely biking through wine country while sipping a glass of pinot noir sounds like your perfect vacation, The Lodge at Sonoma, an Autograph Collection hotel, may be the perfect spot for your next stay away from home. This month, the hotel unveiled a new package called Pedal for Pinot to celebrate the region’s harvest season.

The Lodge at Sonoma’s Pedal for Pinot map includes stops at more than a half-dozen wineries located within a mile of the property. The hotel has a fleet of $599 Priority Coast bikes ready to lend to guests, and those looking to pedal a bit further can explore the depths of Sonoma County’s 1,700 square miles, which play home to hundreds of wineries.

Pinot noir grapes are notoriously difficult to grow, but flourish in Sonoma, thanks to the region’s relatively cool climate, wind, and fog. Several local wineries, including the boutique Sojourn Cellars — a stop on the hotel’s Pedal for Pinot route — are well known for their pinot noirs. Other wineries on the map include Gundlach Bundschu Winery, Buena Vista Winery , Sebastiani, Walt Winery, Texture, and Cochon Tasting Bar, among others.

The “Pedal for Pinot” experience also includes insider tips from Sonoma experts to take full advantage of the off-the-beaten path places in the destination. In between tastings, explorers can refer to the map for other local treasures, such as Sonoma Plaza and Sonoma Museum of Art.

If you’re more of a pool and cocktail kind of traveler, The Lodge at Sonoma is also currently offering visitors a chance to sip delicious cocktails that give back to the local community.

Sonoma is known for its strong sense of community and willingness to support others, and to honor this commitment, The Lodge at Sonoma is offering a special give-back opportunity at its brand-new High Horse Bar. The horse trailer turned poolside bar pokes fun at its fellow wine country city, Napa, and has added a brand-new “Get Off Your High Horse” cocktail to the menu. Proceeds from the drink will benefit both wine country communities in the spirit of collaboration and giving back. The cocktail features Sonoma rye whiskey, mezcal and tequila, combined with spicy mango puree and served in a tall, Tajin-rimmed glass. For every cocktail sold, the resort will donate a portion of proceeds to Sonoma Food Runners – whose mission is to alleviate hunger, prevent food waste and build community – and Community Action of Napa Valley – which provides food and shelter in support of their low income community members through their food bank, Meals on Wheels program, free food market, and more.
