Renowned British-French Brasserie Langan’s Returns To Mayfair

Known for its elegance and eccentricity, renowned British-French brasserie Langan’s has officially reopened in London’s Mayfair district. Acclaimed restaurateurs Graziano Arricale and James Hitchen have taken the helm at the iconic space, bringing years of hospitality expertise to the project.

Reimagined for a new generation by Peter Mikic, who cites his inspiration as a celebration of British craftsmanship with European flair, the new three storey brasserie draws upon 20th century design in a fresh, contemporary fashion. Stepping through Langan’s hallowed doors, guests enter the ground floor bar, made from three different marbles and adorned with a circular ‘pop’ pattern. In the main dining room, a palette of sage green is offset by neutral accents and at the end of the main dining room sits Langan’s dedicated seafood bar with its curved stainless steel overhang, adding a sense of sculptural theatre. Langan’s now listed staircase leads guests from the ground floor to the new invite only late lounge and the basement offers a stunning private dining room which seats up to twenty guests.

Offering breakfast (from 8th November), lunch and dinner daily, the menu features all of the classics one would expect from the renowned British-French brasserie. From theatrical dishes such as beef tartare served either tableside or Aller-Retour and the famed spinach soufflé with anchovy sauce, to the Langan’s fish pie and Scottish Salmon with Sorrel Sauce & Confit Lemon, guests will delight at the diverse and contemporary menu with its nod to Langan’s culinary heritage.  A raw seafood bar will be the centrepiece of the dining experience with a sumptuous array of fresh British oysters dressed in Shallot Vinegar or Ponzu, a Plateau de Fruits de Mer for two and a selection of seafood crudo to name a few.

Langan’s serves all of the cocktail classics along with some playful additions which incorporate unique flavours and reflect the restaurant’s theatrical personality. In homage of the esteemed individuals that frequented the original brasserie, signature cocktails include the 1976, with Ron Zacapa Centenario 23, Apricot & Bay Leaf & Tonic, which honours the year that the original brasserie opened and the Joan Collins with Tanqueray Rangpur, Roasted Pine Nuts Milk & Propolis, a nod to the well-known actress who was regularly sighted at the restaurant. Alongside an impressive cocktail menu, sommelier Guillem Kerambrun has curated an extensive wine list for guests with a renewed focus on English winemakers. Kerambrun has over 20 years of experience in the wine and hospitality industries across numerous international markets having enjoyed 13 years at the esteemed Alain Ducasse’s empire.

Particularly noted for its artwork, the reimagined brasserie has stayed true to its heritage showcasing contemporary artworks, expertly curated by an in-house consultant. Langan’s has also pledged to support independent museums and art institutions in the UK celebrating homegrown talent and providing the perfect backdrop to showcase rising stars in the industry; taking centre stage in the ground floor dining room is a mural designed by Glaswegian born and dwelling France Lise McGurn.

“We are so proud to be bringing the new and reimagined Langan’s to London,” said Graziano Arricale and James Hitchen. “We look forward to creating a real hub for the locals of Mayfair along with those from the worlds of fashion, art, film and music to help us bring Langan’s back to its rightful place at the centre of Mayfair.”

Since it first opened its doors, Langan’s has been about more than dinner, and more than a party. It was a place where Mick Jagger and David Bowie could share a cocktail, a hub for the well-heeled and the spirited. Now, that joie de vivre has been reimagined for a new age.

Langan’s is located at Stratton Street, Mayfair, London W1J 8LB and is open Monday – Friday: from 07:00am – 01:00am, Saturday from 11:00am – 01:00am, and Sunday from 11:00am – 22:00pm.
