GlenAllachie Debuts Cask Strength 14-Year-Old Oloroso Wood Finish Whisky

The GlenAllachie has revealed the latest addition to its Wood Finish series, The GlenAllachie 14-year-old Oloroso Wood Finish. The limited-edition whisky was created exclusively for the United Kingdom.

Presented at a natural cask strength of 55.4%, the The GlenAllachie 14-year-old Oloroso Wood Finish is a small-batch release initially matured in first and second fill American oak barrels, before being re-racked for over two years aging in Oloroso puncheons personally sourced by Master Distiller Billy Walker.

After closely monitoring the maturing spirit within the Oloroso-seasoned Spanish oak casks, Walker determined when the ideal balance between distillery and wood character was achieved. The whisky was then bottled without added coloring or chill filtration.

The Scotch delivers rich sherry-matured indulgence with notes of sticky raisins, gooey dark chocolate pudding, zesty orange and fresh espresso, all coupled with classic GlenAllachie honeyed charm.

“As soon as we acquired The GlenAllachie distillery, I knew exactly what direction I wanted us to take the liquid in; a single malt known for its bold, indulgent sherried character,” said Walker. “This UK bottling is no different, with all those archetypal Oloroso tones you would expect – rich cocoa, cinnamon sticks, tangy orange and fresh ginger, all alongside a warming mocha depth. A sophisticated single malt that exemplifies the exciting direction that we have been taking The GlenAllachie in.”

The GlenAllachie 14-year-old Oloroso Wood Finish is available now exclusively from UK specialist retailers and is priced at £89.99. For more infomation, head over to the brand’s official website.

In July, The GlenAllachie Distillers Company unveiled its first-ever rum. The new spirit will be the first in a range of small-batch rums released under the company’s MacNair’s brand and will be called Exploration Rum. They will be crafted by Walker.

In May, GlenAllachie added the 30 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 1 whisky to its core lineup. The release is the oldest addition to the Speyside distillery’s flagship offerings to date.
