On World Whisky Day, East London’s Umbrella Workshop will be offering an exclusive tasting to celebrate the launch of their collaboration with Teeling Whiskey. On 21st May, guests are invited to be one of the first to taste Teeling’s Ginger Beer Cask Whisky at The Umbrella Workshop, just off Boundary Street in Shoreditch. Those in the know should head down between 3-5pm for their chance to try the limited edition liquid for free.
The Umbrella Workshop’s bartenders will be on hand to talk guests through the tasting session and explain the processes used to create the Ginger Beer finished Whiskey and Whiskey finished Ginger Beer. Alongside the free tasting, the bartenders will be mixing up some special World Whisky Day cocktails across all three of the bars.
Over at Discount Suit Company a Crimson and Clover cocktail will be on the menu. This fruity summer whisky sour is a twist on a classic Clover Club and crimson in colour, showcasing the versatility of Scotch Whisky. Made with Heroes and Heretics whisky, a 12 year old single malt from the Speyside region and shaken with El Bandarra Alfresco Aperitif, Strawberry, Hibiscus, Sweet Woodruff and Citrus.
At Bethnal Green’s The Sun Tavern, visitors can order a Beer and a Bump. With a whisky special on the menu each month, May will see Whiskey finished Ginger Beer served with a shot of Teeling’s Ginger beer finished Whiskey feature on the menu.
To create the Teeling Whiskey finished Umbrella London Ginger Beer, 500 litres of Ginger Beer was rested in two used Teeling former Bourbon hogshead barrels for two years, before carbonating and canning the liquid. The barrels were then shipped back to the Teeling Distillery in Dublin to be refilled with Teeling Whiskey and rested for nine months to create the Umbrella London Ginger Beer finished Teeling Whiskey. Both are available exclusively for pre-order now from the Umbrella Project website.
