Eat Drink Americano

Americano

Eat Drink Americano sits next to the massive Hauser & Wirth gallery and across the street from SCI-Arc. Despite its Arts District location and somewhat pretentious neighbors, the bar-restaurant offers a casual atmosphere and laid back environment for fresh eats and liquor-forward drinks.

Nothing here is overcomplicated or unnecessary. The space is bright, the portions large, and the beverages well poured. The entrance is hidden a few paces down an alley, making it a mellow spot to hold up while avoiding the neighborhood’s weekend crowds.

Nights bring live music, while days bring hefty brunch portions that aren’t afraid to cover your entire plate. Cocktails are poured with heavy hands and the menu is thoughtfully crafted. The concoctions seem to have a large garden in mind as they aren’t afraid to mix in a variety of fresh ingredients. There is an Aloe Paloma that comes with the usual grapefruit, soda, and tequila, but made all the more intriguing by the Chareau Aloe Liqueur. The Basil Betch is earthy and herby, mixing Whiskey, lemon, L’Orgeat, and the previously mentioned sage variety.

On the brunch side, cocktails options are kept limited but are no less intoxicating. The White Americano is everything you could want for a play on a White Russian, while the Early Bird is a sweet and salty play on the traditional Whiskey Sour. Of course, a Bloody Mary is on offer, and it comes complete with a bacon salt rim.

If you’re looking for a spot in the Arts District with a mellower vibe, large eats, and garden-inspired cocktails, Americano provides an ideal bright casual space.
