Cocchi Releases Extra Dry Vermouth

Cocchi Extra Dry Vermouth

Cocchi, the Italian apéritif producer, has extended its vermouth range with an Extra Dry bottling.

The drink, called ‘Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry’ celebrates Piedmont, the birthplace of Italian vermouth, and uses a recipe that originates from the region.

Roberto Bava, managing director, Cocchi, said:

“We’re extremely proud to bring to the UK our latest addition Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry.

“It’s been a long process, and it took a lot of work to create a vermouth that would have personality without overpowering the delicacy of a gin and vodka.

“So far, the support we have got from our friends in the trade has been incredible, so we’re confident this will become a classic just like our Cocchi Vermouth Di Torino. We’ll raise a Martini to that.”

Made from local Cortese grapes, the vermouth’s wine base delivers notes of fresh apple, melon and white flowers. The liquid is then blended with botanicals including wormwood, angelica, coriander, cardamom, lemon peel and menta di Pancalieri, a Piedmontese mint. The mint and lemon peel are said to bring herbaceous notes and brightness to the palate.

Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry is recommended for use in classic cocktails, such as the Martini, as well as served long with elderflower tonic, soda water or on its own over ice.

The 17% ABV liquid retails for RRP £19 (US$25.18) per 500ml bottle.

Cocchi recently celebrated its 130th anniversary with the launch of a limited edition Barolo Chinato modelled after a 19th-century recipe.

Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry will be distributed in the UK by Speciality Brands.
