Carlos I Unveils Limited Edition Spanish Brandy To Celebrate 130th Anniversary

Carlos I 130th

Osborne has launched a limited edition Spanish Brandy to celebrate the 130th anniversary of Carlos I. Dubbed Carlos I 130 Aniversario, master blender Ignacio Lozano worked with the finest holandas in his private reserve to create the limited edition spirit.

All of the holandas used to create Carlos I 130 Aniversario have been aged for decades, and, for the first time ever, two of the centennial butts of the Carlos I founding solera were completely emptied to create the Brandy. The new offering has already pulled in some impressive praise as it was the only Brandy de Jerez to win a double gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2020. Bodegas Osborne also took home a gold medal for its Carlos 1520 Gran Reserva brandy.

“This limited edition brings a new perspective to the story of our 130th anniversary and is the ideal way to celebrate this great moment for Carlos I,” said Lozano. The bottles for the Brandy take their inspiration from the armour worn by knights in the 16th century.

A very intense dark mahogany in color, the Brandy balances fresh aromas with the intensity of candied citrus fruits and spices. The palate is smooth and offers an explosion of flavors, including ginger, nutmeg, sandalwood, and lavender honey. The finish is long with notes of liquorice and noble woods.

Only 1,665 bottles of Carlos 130 have been made available and are currently on sale for €250 ($297 USD) via the brand’s online store. More than 40% have already been reserved for brandy lovers and collectors in Germany, Switzerland, and China.

Carlos I is the best selling brandy de Jerez brand in the world. Osbourne is a privately held Spanish company dedicated to the production of wine, spirits, Iberian pork products, and most recently, mineral water.  Other brands on the company’s umbrella include Fino Quinta, Magno, 103, Toro, Conde de Osborne, Jamones 5J, Montecillo, Osborne Malpica, Anís del Mono, and Solán de Cabras.
