First there was Gentleman Jack and then last year the Brown-Forman-owned brand released its first age-stated whiskey in more than 100 years. Now, Jack Daniel’s is taking another step towards refinement–even if it’s one that’ll be exclusively available to global travelers–with the release of its first American single malt whiskey.
Revealed in Cannes, France during the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) show, the brand is jumping on the American single malt craze that is currently sweeping the country. The American Single Malt is made with 100% malted brewer’s barley from northern states in the US and matured in new charred American oak barrels for five years and finished in oloroso Sherry casks for two years and eight months.
Jack Daniel’s UK brand ambassador Cam Dawson says the 45% ABV whiskey is a “not to the way Scotch whisky does thing,” and that the bottling delivers a “tingling fiery sensation” on the nose, with “vanilla and red fruit” and nuttiness.
Jack Daniel’s American Single Malt is set to debut in global travel retail in June 2023 for $100 USD. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
