Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin

Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin

Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin is crafted by Cape Byron Distillery. It’s the standard product from the New South Wales distillery, which produces a variety of limited edition varieties to go along with the Byron Dry as well as a Sloe Gin, a Liqueur, and a Whisky.

Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin contains 25 botanicals, of which 17 are native to the region of Northern Rivers region where the distillery is located. Native botanicals include  Byron sunrise finger limes, aniseed myrtle, cinnamon myrtle, macadamia, native river mint, native raspberry, and a variety of others.

On the nose, the Gin features aromas of citrus, followed by notes of juniper and coriander as well as some warm nuttyness from the macadamia. The citrus continues on to the palate and there’s a slight berry note, which is followed by ginger and aniseed. The finish is full of pepper with a slight salinity.

The Gin has won awards around the globe, including Gold at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 San Francisco Spirits Awards 2019.

Cape Byron Distillery is perched in the heart of the Brook Family’s 96 acre Farm (Brookfarm) in the hinterland of Byron Bay. The distillery rests amongst a macadamia orchard and the rainforest that the Brook’s have regenerated. The distillery was purpose-built on one of the only bare plots of land remaining. Inside, visitors will find a custom-made copper pot still (named George), next to a cellar door bar made from locally sourced Norfolk pine and recycled materials.

The Brook family is directly responsible for the thriving ecosystem and lush subtropical rainforest where Cape Byron Distillery rests. They have a passion for rainforest regeneration, that started 30 years ago when Pam & Martin Brook purchased a run-down dairy farm in the hinterland of Byron Bay. Since then they have regenerated and replanted over 35,000 subtropical rainforest trees, creating an oasis for native animals and birds.

It is this passion for regeneration that is at the core of Cape Byron Distillery and that care can also be found in their Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin.
